The CMO-1421-S000 plug is a compact 50Ω micro-RF coaxial connector designed to mate with an RF switch PCB receptacle. Unlike conventional micro-coax connectors that simply establish an RF path, this switch connector enables automatic selection between an onboard antenna and an external antenna or test interface.
This integrated switching function simplifies antenna evaluation during product development and supports RF testing in manufacturing without requiring additional switching circuitry.
Harness Assembly and Handling
The plug is supplied exclusively as a pre-terminated harness assembly by ADR-Technology. It uses a micro-coaxial cable with an outer diameter of 1.13 mm (AWG 32).
Because micro-coaxial interconnects are delicate, operators should follow precise handling procedures. The connector should be mated vertically along its axis and should not be engaged at an angle.
Electrical Performance
The connector is optimized for operation from DC to 9 GHz, making it suitable for current sub-6 GHz wireless communication systems.
Its specified characteristic impedance is 50Ω.
Supported wireless standards include 5G Sub-6, Wi-Fi 6, LTE/LTE-Advanced, Bluetooth, GPS, and LPWA.
Typical VSWR for a 100 mm cable remains below 1.4 up to 3GHz, 1.6 up to 6GHz, and 2.0 up to 9GHz.
These characteristics support efficient power transfer and low signal reflection across the operating frequency range.
Mechanical Design and PCB Integration
Mechanical reliability is critical in miniature RF connectors. The CMO-1421-S000 uses a friction-lock mating mechanism that provides secure retention while allowing repeated connection cycles during development and production testing.
The connector is compatible with both normal and floating cable probes, providing flexibility for automated RF measurements and production diagnostics.
